The schools Educate! Students Attend

University

Makerere University: In August ’07, two of our students, Daniel Muhwezi and Wereje Benson, were accepted to Makerere University, the best in East Africa. With over 30,000 students, Makerere is also known as the Harvard of Africa. Check out Makerere’s website: www.mak.ac.ug.

Kyambogo University: Kyambogo is generally considered the second best university in Uganda to Makerere. However, many say that the quality of education is higher at Kyambogo which has smaller class sizes and tries to vocationalize education at all levels. Marcel Bahati was recently accepted to both Makerere and Kyambogo and chose Kyambogo in order to pursue a degree in French, the language of his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Secondary

Duhaga Secondary School: Duhaga Secondary School is located in Hoima, a town in western Uganda. It is a large school known for its excellence in math and science. It is also relatively close to Kyangwali Refugee Camp, where most of the Educate! students are from, which makes it easy for them to return home during the holidays.

Sir Tito Winyi Secondary School: Several Educate! students attend Sir Tito Winyi Secondary School, which is also in Hoima, Uganda. In addition to receiving a quality education here, our students have the option of participating in student government, athletics and other leadership roles around the school.

While many Educate! students attend the schools mentioned above, we also sponsor students at other high quality schools around Uganda.

*Also worth noting is that our students have access to the internet at their schools, which provides them with a quick way to stay in touch with us as well as an excellent resource for everything from a research paper to finding a job.
