Educate! Haiti

Mission Statement

Educate! Haiti is committed to enhancing access to opportunity through sustainable education for the urban poor of Port-au-Prince, empowering students to bring about effective solutions to fight poverty in Haiti.

Scholarship Program

Through its scholarship program, Educate! Haiti aims to provide adolescents from Cite Soleil, Haiti’s poorest slum, access to schooling, transportation, school supplies and a safe learning environment to grow and develop through education.

Working in conjunction with Scholarship Soleil, children who are recommended for the program undergo a house visit by the Haitian administrator who decides if the necessity for the scholarship is legitimate. Once approved, the student will receive a full year of education at whichever school he/she chooses.

Educate! Haiti’s scholarship program will provide the cost of the complete year’s tuition for that child, the transportation to and from, and the cost of the uniform and whatever supplies the school might require.

Library Project

With the goal of reversing the current drop-out rate, this project will work with secondary school adolescents to create a library to serve as a study center, providing a safe environment conducive to continued education.

The library center will partner with local schools and will provide the books that students from each secondary level will need throughout the school year. In addition, the center will supply desks and a generator so that students can focus on their studies and maintain the incentive that is essential for at-risk children to stay in school.
